Windstorm of Etaqua

Windstorm of Etaqua was released as part of the Speed Duel Demo Deck, a simplified introductory set designed to teach new players the mechanics of the Speed Duel format. This format was launched to revitalize interest in the game by offering a faster, more streamlined experience compared to the traditional trading card game, utilizing smaller deck sizes and restricted board layouts.

The card itself features artwork depicting a swirling, supernatural gale, consistent with the thematic design of the Yu-Gi-Oh! early sets where many cards were inspired by classic mythology or elemental forces. As a common card in the demo deck, it was intended to be accessible to everyone, functioning as a defensive trap card that turns all face-up Attack Position monsters into Defense Position, a classic utility effect meant to introduce players to the concept of field manipulation.
