World Legacy - "World Chalice"

The World Legacy - World Chalice was released in 2017 as part of the Code of the Duelist booster set, marking the debut of the extensive World Legacy narrative arc in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This card serves as a central protagonist of the overarching storyline, representing the initial awakening of the World Chalice artifact that triggers a multi-year conflict across the game's lore. Its introduction shifted the tone of card releases toward a more serialized, character-driven storytelling approach that spanned several years of subsequent expansion sets.

The design of the card emphasizes its role as the foundation of the World Chalice archetype, featuring art that depicts the iconic artifact which empowers the protagonists of the set. As a rare-tier card, it was crafted to be accessible to players while functioning as a critical combo piece for link-summoning strategies. It received positive attention from the community for its unique synergy within the early Link Summoning era, as it allowed players to rapidly populate the field and facilitate the summoning of higher-tier members of the World Chalice lineage.
