This card belongs to the Yosenju archetype, a series of Beast-Warrior monsters themed after Japanese folklore and wind-based deities. Designed to emphasize the tribe's signature playstyle, Magat was crafted to facilitate hand advantage and field presence by allowing the player to draw cards whenever another Yosenju monster returns to the hand.

The visual design draws heavily from traditional depictions of Tengu, the legendary avian creatures of Japanese mythology. Illustrators sought to convey a sense of swift, tactical combat, consistent with the archetype's hit-and-run nature. Upon release, the set was noted by players for expanding the competitive viability of the Yosenju deck, providing necessary consistency and utility in a meta-game that favored resource management.
