Zoma the Spirit

Zoma the Spirit was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a rare trap card in the 2005 tactical set Shadow of Infinity. Its design draws from the dark, spectral aesthetic prevalent during the GX era, functioning as a monster-trap that transitions from a face-down position to a combatant on the field. The card is noted for its unique effect, which inflicts damage based on its original attack points when destroyed in battle, a mechanic that emphasizes the risky, strategic nature of trap monsters.

The version included in Speed Duel GX: Duelists of Shadows, numbered SGX3-ENI38, was released to bring classic card mechanics into the streamlined Speed Duel format. By incorporating this card into the Duelists of Shadows set, Konami allowed players to utilize older, tactical trap-monster strategies within a more modern, fast-paced play environment. As a common rarity print, it serves as an accessible utility piece for deck builders focusing on shadow-themed or defensive playstyles, reflecting the recurring thematic focus on the sinister deck archetypes featured in the GX anime series.
