Zoodiac Thoroughblade

Zoodiac Thoroughblade was released as part of the 2017 Mega-Tin Mega Pack, serving as a reprint of the card originally introduced in the Raging Tempest booster set. This card belongs to the Zoodiac archetype, a series of Earth-attribute Beast-Warrior monsters that became infamous in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game for their unique ability to Xyz Summon using only a single Zoodiac monster as material. Their arrival defined the competitive landscape of early 2017, leading to a period of dominance where the engine was splashed into nearly every high-level deck due to its efficiency and resource recursion.

The design of the Zoodiac monsters draws heavily from the Chinese Zodiac, with Thoroughblade representing the tiger. The artwork features a stylized, armored warrior mounted on a feline beast, rendered in the hyper-detailed, energetic style characteristic of the game's creature designers. Upon its release, the card was widely received as a centerpiece for the archetype, valued for its ability to discard a Zoodiac card to draw a new one, which allowed players to filter their hands and set up graveyard-based plays. The 2017 Mega-Tin printing made this critical competitive tool more accessible to the broader player base following its initial run as a secret rare.
