Where it came from
91 Daze was released in 2016 as a specialized project reflecting a curated approach to the aesthetic and cultural signifiers of the mid-1990s. The work emerged during a period of intense fascination with nineties nostalgia, serving as a creative exercise in documenting the textures, sounds, and fashion sensibilities that defined that specific decade, structured through a modern editorial lens.
The project was designed to evoke a sense of kinetic, lo-fi energy, favoring raw, documentary-style imagery that contrasts with the polished digital media common to 2016. By focusing on the gritty, authentic markers of 1991, the creators aimed to capture a fleeting historical mood rather than a comprehensive history, garnering interest from niche audiences who appreciated the intentional, slightly melancholic reverence for pre-internet cultural spontaneity.
