A Girl & Her Guard Dog

A Girl & Her Guard Dog, known in Japan as Ojou to Banken-kun, is a television anime series produced by the studio project No.9 and distributed by Pony Canyon in 2023. The series is based on the ongoing manga of the same name written and illustrated by Hatsuharu, which first began serialization in Bessatsu Friend in 2018. The adaptation centers on the complex relationship between Isaku Senagaki, the granddaughter of a yakuza boss, and Keiya Uto, her dedicated but overbearing guard dog who has served her family for years.

The anime adaptation was directed by Nobuhiro Takamoto and sought to capture the high-contrast aesthetic of Hatsuharu's character designs, balancing the themes of high school romance with the inherent tension of the protagonist's criminal family background. Upon its release, the series became a notable entry in the shoujo demographic, attracting viewers interested in the melodrama and character-driven dynamics inherent in the original manga's long-running narrative.
