Where it came from
A Ripple in Time is a 2022 original net animation produced by Studio OLM to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise. It serves as a visual celebration of the series' history, utilizing an experimental, fluid art style that diverges from the standard television animation format to emphasize the emotional connection between trainers and their Pokémon across different eras.
The project was conceptualized as a retrospective piece, focusing on the themes of memory and the passage of time. Directed by Daiki Tomiyasu, the short was designed to evoke nostalgia through a non-linear narrative structure that weaves together iconic imagery from across the franchise's long-running history, and it was generally well-received by fans for its artistic ambition and atmospheric quality.
