Where it came from
Aikatsu! 10th STORY: Mirai e no STARWAY was released in 2022 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Aikatsu! franchise, a multimedia project centered on the idol activities of young performers. Produced by Bandai Namco Pictures, the film serves as a bridge for the original series cast, focusing on the high school graduation of Ichigo Hoshimiya and her peers as they transition toward their professional futures. The narrative was designed to offer closure to fans who had followed the characters since the series debuted in 2012, balancing nostalgia with the franchise's established themes of perseverance and friendship.
The production team, led by director Ryuichi Kimura, aimed to capture the signature vibrant aesthetic and musical spirit that defined the original anime series. By reuniting the core creative staff and voice cast, the studio sought to maintain the visual consistency and character dynamics that resonated with the audience during the original run. Upon its release, the film was received as a heartfelt homage to the series' legacy, praised for its emotional resonance and its ability to honor the decade-long journey of the characters within the Aikatsu! universe.
