Where it came from
The Nerawareta Mahou no Aikatsu! Card is a promotional item released in conjunction with the 2016 Aikatsu! movie, Aikatsu! The Targeted Magical Aikatsu Card. Produced by Bandai Namco Pictures, this item reflects the franchise's strategy of bridging digital gameplay with theatrical experiences. The film and its associated merchandise were designed to celebrate the transition period between the original Aikatsu! series and the launch of Aikatsu Stars!, serving as a narrative bridge for long-time fans.
The design of the card emphasizes the vibrant, high-energy aesthetic consistent with the series' idol-themed motif. As a collectible tie-in, it was distributed to audience members to enhance the immersive nature of the film, which focuses on a magical adventure involving the series' protagonist, Ichigo Hoshimiya. The release was well-received by the series' core audience, as it provided a tangible connection to the film's climax and functioned as a functional game piece for the Aikatsu! Data Carddass arcade machines.
