Yaeko Mitamura is an 18 year old girl working in her father's Okonomiyaki restaurant. One day Yakko casually meets a little boy, Hashizo and his odd cat Juliano. Hashizo has lost both parents when still a baby and has been brought up by his elder brother. Hashizo's brother Go Kato is the lead singer of the emerging rock band "Bee Hive". When Yakko meets Go and his friend and "Bee Hive" member Satomi Okawa an unexpected series of events unfolds. Love, jealousy, rock'n roll and the sparkle of newly borned stars is what makes this anime so lovable.

Where it came from
Aishite Knight, known in English-speaking regions as Love Me My Knight, was produced by Toei Animation and aired on TV Asahi beginning in 1983. Based on the manga by Kaoru Tada, the series captures the vibrant aesthetic of early 1980s shojo anime, focusing on the intersection of music, romance, and daily life in a bustling urban setting. The production is notable for its heavy emphasis on original rock music, which was integrated into the narrative through the characters' involvement with a fictional band.
The character designs and animation direction reflected the trend of stylish, melodramatic storytelling that defined the era's shojo adaptations. By focusing on the emotional growth of the protagonist, Yaeko Mitamura, the series moved away from traditional fantasy tropes to offer a grounded, contemporary look at young adulthood. Upon its release, it was well-received for its catchy soundtrack and relatable romantic tension, solidifying its place as a classic piece of 1980s television animation history.
