Kenji is a motorcyclist enthusiast who loves nothing more than to ride around on his motorcycle. He invites Tomomi on a tour of Hakone, but by doing so is introduced to a car driver named "Wednesday's Cinderella", whose Porsche is supposedly haunted by the "devil". Motorcyclists show up every week to try and compete against the driver, but none of them ever win. Kenji sees this as a challenge and asks a bike shop owner to tune his bike for the purpose of competing against this driver, just for pure fun. The bike shop owner refuses due to past trauma that gets triggered upon the sight of his bike (and due to trauma that the Cinderella driver has), but eventually does so anyway, in the hopes that Kenji can cure the Cinderella driver's trauma by winning.

Where it came from
Aitsu to Lullaby: Suiyoubi no Cinderella was produced by Studio Pierrot and released by Kodansha in 1987 as a direct-to-video adaptation rooted in the popular manga series by Michiharu Kusunoki. The original manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, captured the zeitgeist of the Japanese motorcycle street-racing culture of the early 1980s, focusing on the freedom and angst of youth. This cinematic installment sought to translate the manga's atmospheric, melancholic tone into an animated format, reflecting the era's focus on high-fidelity visual storytelling within the burgeoning Original Video Animation market.
The film’s aesthetic design was heavily influenced by the distinct, stylish character work found in Kusunoki’s manga, which prioritized detailed depictions of vintage motorcycles like the Honda CB750. The production aimed to lean into a romanticized portrayal of the mid-80s Japanese urban landscape, utilizing a synth-heavy soundtrack that was iconic to the period's animation. Upon release, the work was received as a stylistic companion piece to the manga, appreciated by enthusiasts for its commitment to the technical accuracy of its mechanical subjects and its moody, character-driven narrative.
