Annyeong Jaduya: Seoyugi - Eojjeoda Yeongwoong

Annyeong Jaduya: Seoyugi - Eojjeoda Yeongwoong, released in 2022, serves as a feature-length film expansion of the popular South Korean animated series Hello Jadu. The franchise originates from a long-running manhwa series by Lee Bin, which chronicles the daily life of a spirited young girl named Jadu Choi in the 1980s. This specific entry adapts the traditional Chinese literary epic Journey to the West, reinterpreting the classic mythology by inserting the familiar, mischievous cast of the original series into the roles of legendary characters like Sun Wukong.

The animation was produced by the studio Atoonz, known for maintaining the signature bright, expressive visual style that defines the Hello Jadu brand. By transplanting its contemporary protagonist into a fantasy-adventure setting, the production aimed to offer a fresh, comedic take on historical folklore while retaining the grounded, family-oriented humor that has made the source material a staple of Korean animation. Upon its theatrical release in South Korea, it was received as a lighthearted spin-off designed to appeal to both long-time fans of the series and younger audiences.
