Where it came from
Annyeong, Tyrano: Yeong-wonhi, Hamkke, released internationally as My Tyrano: Together, Forever, is a feature-length animated film produced by the storied Japanese studio Tezuka Productions. Released in 2019, the project is based on the popular Tyrannosaurus series of children's books by Japanese author Tatsuya Miyanishi. The film serves as a departure from typical dinosaur-centric action fare, shifting the focus toward a character-driven narrative about friendship, survival, and empathy between an injured Tyrannosaurus and a flightless Pteranodon.
The film's visual identity was heavily influenced by the distinct, minimalist illustrative style found in Miyanishi’s original picture books, which were adapted for the screen by director Shizuno Kobun. In collaborating with South Korean and Chinese partners, the production sought to maintain the emotional warmth and fable-like quality of the source material while utilizing 3D computer animation. Upon release, it was noted by critics for its gentle storytelling and its commitment to the pacifist themes that characterize much of the work associated with the late Osamu Tezuka’s studio legacy.
