Based on the RPG game of the same name. Aurica Nestmile is a young Reyvateil, or "singing maiden" who feels her song magic is not of much use to anyone. From high up on the tower Ar Tonelico comes Lyner Barsett, whose airship is totaled upon impact with the ground. These two meet up, and in the search for someone who can repair the ship, end up helping both each other and themselves.

Where it came from
Released in 2006, the Ar Tonelico: Sekai no Owari de Utai Tsuzukeru Shoujo OVA serves as a short animated companion to the inaugural entry in the Ar Tonelico role-playing game series developed by Gust and Banpresto. Produced by studio Trans Arts, this brief adaptation was intended to promote the game's intricate world-building, specifically focusing on the Hymmnos language and the central concept of Reyvateils—artificial beings who use song to manipulate the planet's energy. It functions primarily as a visual bridge for players, distilling the game's thematic focus on music and science fantasy into a serialized animated format.
The production sought to capture the high-fantasy aesthetic established by character designer Rinko Hagane, emphasizing the ethereal and melodic nature of the franchise. Because the OVA was produced as a promotional tie-in rather than a standalone narrative epic, its artistic direction maintains a close adherence to the game's character models and environmental palette. While it received a modest reception primarily from the existing fan base of the game, it is remembered for its atmospheric commitment to the 'Singing Girl' motif that defines the broader Ar Tonelico trilogy.
