Where it came from
Bai Yue Er emerged from the expansive animation landscape cultivated by Tencent Penguin Pictures, a division of the Chinese technology giant that has significantly accelerated the production of high-fidelity 3D animation. As an ONA (Original Net Animation) project, it reflects the studio's broader initiative to adapt popular Chinese literature and folklore into visually immersive digital series designed for domestic and international streaming platforms.
The production utilizes sophisticated motion capture and rendering techniques to achieve a specific aesthetic balance between traditional wuxia artistic sensibilities and modern technical polish. While specific design credits for individual ONA projects under the Tencent banner are often attributed to collective studio workflows, the visual language was crafted to satisfy the high expectations of the contemporary Chinese animation audience, focusing on fluid action sequences and expressive, cinematic character models.
