Bihada Ichizoku

Bihada Ichizoku, or Beauty Skin Family, emerged in 2008 as a unique television adaptation produced by Studio Omnibus Japan. The series was born out of a successful cross-media marketing campaign launched by the cosmetic brand Bihada Ichizoku, which had already gained cult status in Japan for its illustrative, anime-styled beauty product packaging. The animation was designed to extend the brand's narrative world, centering on the intense and often humorous trials of a family dedicated to achieving the ultimate beauty.

The visual direction and character designs were crafted to mirror the distinctive, high-contrast aesthetic of the original product illustrations, characterized by dramatic, classic shoujo-inspired features. While the project served as an innovative form of branded entertainment, it was received as a stylistic curiosity that blurred the lines between long-form advertising and traditional anime. It remains a notable example of Japanese corporate storytelling from the late 2000s, where consumer goods were reimagined through the lens of episodic animation.
