BRONZE KoJI NANJo cathexis

The 1994 OVA adaptation of the Persona series, titled Revelations: Persona or simply Persona, was produced by the acclaimed studio Madhouse. This project emerged during a transitional period for Japanese animation, attempting to translate the psychological depth and gothic aesthetic of the source material into a compressed visual format. The design of Koji Nanjo, a character defined by his wealth, stoicism, and connection to the occult, reflects the late 1990s visual style typical of the franchise's early multimedia expansions.

The character design for Nanjo was crafted to emphasize his aristocratic background and inner rigidity, drawing heavily from the stylistic foundations established by Kazuma Kaneko. In the context of the production, the creators aimed to capture the dark, surreal atmosphere of the Persona games through a lens of moody cinematography and stark character silhouettes. Upon release, the OVA received a mixed reception, noted primarily for its ambition in condensing complex narrative themes into a limited runtime while establishing the visual archetypes that would define the franchise for years to come.
