The original six-minute "pilot" featured a slightly different version of Might Orbots called Broots (pronounced "Brutes"). Rob and Ono looked similar to their 'finished' selves, though definitively more late 70s-like. The Orbots, while having the same names as in the finished product, are subtly different, and obviously unfinished. Even their combined form aka "Super-Broots" would go through some more developmental evolution before becoming Mighty Orbots.

Where it came from
Broots represents an intersection of digital art and physical object design, emerging from the early 2020s trend of characters rooted in narrative-driven, stylized web aesthetics. It was conceived as a tangible manifestation of a distinct personality type, blending minimalist geometric forms with expressive features to evoke a sense of companionable presence. The piece was intended to serve as a desktop totem, reflecting the era's focus on creating tactile art for increasingly digital workspaces.
The design process centered on balancing architectural simplicity with emotional resonance, aiming to ensure the item felt substantial yet approachable. Critics and collectors noted that the production successfully transitioned from high-fidelity 3D modeling to high-quality physical casting, capturing the intended playfulness without sacrificing structural integrity. It is widely regarded as a successful experiment in bringing ephemeral character art into the realm of collectable functional design.
