Where it came from
Chaos;Child was produced by the studio SILVER LINK. and aired in 2017 as an adaptation of the visual novel of the same name, which serves as the fourth entry in the Science Adventure series created by Mages and 5pb. The narrative is set in a post-earthquake Shibuya, following the protagonist Takuru Miyashiro as he investigates a series of bizarre murders that mirror past incidents in the franchise lore.
The production sought to balance the dark, psychological thriller elements of the source material with the series' signature sci-fi mystery aesthetic. Directed by Masato Jinbo, the anime aimed to condense the branching narrative paths of the visual novel into a single cohesive story, a task that garnered mixed reactions from fans regarding the pacing and the complexity of the adaptation process compared to the original game.
