Where it came from
Chinpui: Eri-sama no Good Luck is a 2025 animated feature film produced by Shin-Ei Animation, based on the classic manga series by Fujiko F. Fujio. The production serves as a modern revival of the 1989-1991 television series, aiming to introduce the whimsical story of a young girl named Eri who is pursued by an extraterrestrial prince to a new generation of viewers while retaining the creator's signature blend of comedy and science fiction.
The film's visual direction emphasizes a contemporary polish on the studio's established aesthetic, bridging the gap between the original hand-drawn charm and modern digital animation techniques. Upon its announcement and subsequent release, the project was met with interest from the franchise's long-standing fanbase, serving as both a nostalgic tribute to the source material and an attempt to solidify the Chinpui property as a relevant pillar within the Fujiko F. Fujio cinematic universe.
