Chi's Sweet Home - Chi's New Address

Chi's New Address was produced by the acclaimed studio Madhouse in 2009 as the second season of the animated adaptation of Konami Kanata’s manga series. The series was developed to capture the gentle, slice-of-life charm of the original source material, which chronicles the daily discoveries of a small tabby kitten adopted by the Yamada family. The transition from manga to screen maintained a distinct, minimalist aesthetic, prioritizing expressive character movements and brief, punchy narratives that resonated with a wide, family-oriented audience.

The series is celebrated for its innovative use of color and simplified character designs, which emphasize the kitten's perspective on the world. By utilizing a shorter, episodic format, the production team successfully translated the manga's quiet humor and emotional warmth into a format suited for television. It remains highly regarded in the anime community for its faithfulness to the tone of the source text and its ability to portray the universal experience of pet companionship with sincerity and artistic restraint.
