Crayon Shin-chan: Ora no Hikkoshi Monogatari! Saboten Daisuugeki

Released in 2015, Crayon Shin-chan: Ora no Hikkoshi Monogatari! Saboten Daisuugeki marks the twenty-third installment in the long-running Crayon Shin-chan film franchise. Produced by Shin-Ei Animation, the film departs from the series' typical setting of Kasukabe, instead following the Nohara family as they relocate to Mexico for the father's work. The narrative shift was intended to provide a fresh backdrop for the beloved characters while maintaining the series' signature blend of slapstick humor and heartfelt family dynamics.

Directed by Masakazu Hashimoto, the film was designed to balance the franchise's absurdist legacy with a more adventurous, high-stakes premise involving giant mutant cacti. The creative direction emphasized a distinct visual identity, contrasting the familiar, simplified art style of the manga with more cinematic, expansive landscapes of a fictionalized Mexican town. Upon its release, the film was exceptionally well-received by audiences and critics alike, ultimately becoming the highest-grossing film in the entire franchise to date, solidifying its place as a standout entry in the series' history.
