The anime is set in Australia and follows the Nohara family on an inexpensive and family-friendly honeymoon trip that Misae discovered. Instead of the romantic trip they envisioned, Misae, Hiroshi, and their children get wrapped up in a dangerous adventure. Hiroshi is the center of the story and becomes the key to a treasure. Hiroshi is taken away soon after the family's arrival in Australia. The remaining family members must rescue him while dealing with a mysterious masked group and treasure hunters.

Where it came from
Released in 2019 as the twenty-seventh feature film in the long-running Crayon Shin-chan franchise, Shinkon Ryokou Hurricane - Ushinawareta Hiroshi was directed by Masakazu Hashimoto. Produced by Shin-Ei Animation for TV Asahi, the film serves as a grand adventure narrative centered on a family honeymoon in Australia, contrasting the mundane life of the Nohara family with high-stakes peril when the father, Hiroshi, is kidnapped by a treasure-hunting cult.
The film continues the franchise's tradition of blending slapstick comedy with poignant examinations of familial bonds, particularly the dynamic between Shinnosuke and his parents. Stylistically, it retains the iconic, minimalist character designs established by creator Yoshito Usui, while expanding the visual scale to suit the cinematic travelogue format. It was generally well-received by fans of the series for its balance of absurd humor and genuine emotional heart, marking a consistent entry in the enduring legacy of the Nohara clan's animated history.
