Crayon Shin-chan: Shuurai!! Uchuujin Shiriri

Released in 2017 as the 25th entry in the long-running Crayon Shin-chan film franchise, Shuurai!! Uchuujin Shiriri serves as a commemorative anniversary project directed by Masakazu Hashimoto. The story follows Shin-chan and his family as they encounter a small alien named Shiriri, who has the power to transform adults into children, a narrative choice that plays on the series' core themes of subverting parental authority and celebrating the chaotic energy of childhood.

The film's visual design retains the hallmark aesthetic established by the television series, emphasizing bold, simplified character lines that contrast with the increasingly detailed and imaginative backgrounds typical of the film franchise's higher production budget. Upon its release, it was well-received by critics and fans alike for balancing the series' signature irreverent humor with a surprisingly emotional core, helping to maintain the longevity of the franchise as it navigated its second quarter-century of production.
