Where it came from
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 emerged as a highly anticipated follow-up to the 2022 original series, developed by Studio TRIGGER within the established narrative framework of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Produced in the context of the franchise's ongoing expansion, this ONA was crafted to continue the aesthetic and thematic exploration of Night City, maintaining the studio's signature high-energy visual style and kinetic animation sequences that defined its predecessor.
The production process prioritized a continuation of the gritty, neon-soaked visual language that established the series as a landmark collaboration between CD Projekt Red and the Japanese animation house. Designers and animators aimed to refine the chaotic, stylized action sequences that resonated with viewers globally, focusing on narrative depth and structural continuity to satisfy an audience that had come to expect high-fidelity storytelling from the TRIGGER creative team.
