Where it came from
D_CIDE TRAUMEREI THE ANIMATION was produced by studio SANZIGEN and released in 2021 as a key component of a larger multimedia project by Bushiroad, Sumzap, and Drecom. The series was designed to serve as a narrative prequel to the mobile game of the same name, setting the stage for a dark, supernatural world where teenagers combat nightmarish creatures known as 'Träumerei' in the city of Yushima.
The animation utilizes SANZIGEN’s signature 3D CG style, which has become a hallmark of the studio's technical approach to modern action-oriented series. The show was directed by Yoshikazu Kon, who aimed to blend character-driven drama with the surreal horror elements central to the franchise's lore. Upon release, it was noted for its integration into a broader cross-media ecosystem, intended to draw players into the game's combat mechanics and story-heavy world-building.
