Where it came from
Date A Live: Date to Date was produced as an original video animation by studio AIC Plus+ and released in December 2014. It functions as a standalone episode intended to expand upon the light novel series by Koushi Tachibana, set within the established narrative framework where protagonists must navigate the high-stakes dynamics of sealing the powers of Spirit girls through dates.
The animation reflects the aesthetic consistency of the first television season, focusing on lighthearted character interactions that serve as a bridge between major story arcs. Directed by Keitaro Motonaga, the production aimed to capitalize on the character-driven appeal of the series, receiving standard reception from fans who sought additional screen time for the central cast outside of the main seasonal broadcast.
