Itsuka Shidou's life has been a whirlwind as of late. Or more precisely, a spatial quake. Several of them, in fact. Powerful "Spirits" from other dimensions that take the form of girls are unintentionally causing these spatial quakes in his reality. And Shidou is the only one who can stop them with his unique ability: kissing them! By having the girls kiss and fall deeply in love with him, their devastating quake powers are sealed. The alternative to romancing them is to have a more militant and technological organization called the AST (Anti-Spirit Team) destroy the Spirits, something Shidou is vehemently against.
So far in the story, six Spirits have fallen for Shidou (as well as a few others). The girls compete with one another and vie for his affection, leaving him no end of headaches and misadventures. But a new challenger approaches.

Where it came from
Date A Live III, released in 2019, represents the third season of the popular light novel adaptation originally penned by Kōshi Tachibana. While the first two seasons were produced by AIC Plus+ and Production IMS, the production duties for this installment shifted to J.C.Staff. This change in studio marked a transition in the series' visual aesthetic, as the team sought to balance the complex, action-heavy narrative of the 'Kurumi Tokisaki' and 'Origami Tobiichi' story arcs with the lighter, harem-style comedic elements that defined the source material.
The reception of the series was largely shaped by the studio transition, with audiences focusing heavily on the production values and character designs throughout its twelve-episode run. As an adaptation of a successful multimedia franchise, the series serves as a pivotal bridge in the overarching plot, tasked with animating increasingly intricate battle sequences and expanding the roster of Spirits. Despite the intense scrutiny regarding the technical animation quality compared to its predecessors, the season remains a significant entry in the franchise, maintaining the core thematic focus on the high-stakes romance between Shido Itsuka and the Spirits.
