Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer

Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer was released in 2018 as the twenty-second feature film in the long-running Detective Conan franchise, based on the manga series by Gosho Aoyama. Produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, the film was conceived as a high-stakes espionage thriller that shifts focus toward the character Toru Amuro, a complex figure operating as a triple agent across the National Police Agency, the Black Organization, and the cafe Poirot. This entry was specifically designed to bridge the gap between traditional mystery tropes and the tactical, intense action sequences that define modern blockbuster anime.

The film was met with massive commercial success and critical acclaim, becoming the highest-grossing film in the series at the time of its release. Critics and fans praised the film for its intricate plot regarding Japanese public security and its exploration of moral ambiguity in law enforcement. The design and animation work were widely lauded for maintaining the integrity of Aoyama’s original character designs while successfully integrating sophisticated digital cinematography, cementing the film's status as a definitive installment in the ongoing cinematic history of the franchise.
