Dimension W

Dimension W is a science-fiction anime series adapted from the manga by Yuji Iwahara, produced by Studio 3Hz and Orange. Set in a future where the world's energy needs are met by a system of dimension-hopping coils, the story follows Kyouma Mabuchi, a collector of illegal coils who distrusts the very technology powering society. The adaptation sought to translate Iwahara's sharp, noir-inspired aesthetic into a fluid animated format, blending traditional hand-drawn character animation with stylized computer-generated elements to capture the gritty, tech-heavy atmosphere of the source material.

The production team, led by director Kanta Kamei, focused on balancing the series' high-concept mechanical world-building with the evolving partnership between the protagonist and the android Mira. While the series was noted for its distinct visual style and compelling retro-futuristic premise, reception was mixed, with critics often praising the world-building and character designs while occasionally noting the pacing complexities inherent in adapting a multi-volume manga into a single-season television run.
