Dogs: Bullets & Carnage

Dogs: Bullets & Carnage originated from the manga series by Shirow Miwa, which gained a dedicated following for its distinctive fusion of gritty, neo-noir aesthetics and hyper-stylized action. The 2009 original video animation (OVA) adaptation was produced by studio david production, marking an early milestone for the animation house before they became widely recognized for their work on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The adaptation focuses on the intersecting lives of four individuals within a dystopian, decaying city, translating Miwa's sharp-edged character designs and cinematic paneling into motion.

The production sought to capture the visceral, high-contrast visual identity of the source material, emphasizing a dark color palette and frantic, weapon-heavy combat sequences. While the OVA served as a concise entry point into the franchise's lore, it was noted primarily for its fidelity to the manga's dark, atmospheric tone. Critics and fans generally received the release as a stylistic tribute to the original work, though it was often discussed for its abrupt brevity, given that it condensed complex character arcs into a short episodic format.
