Where it came from
Dore Dore no Uta, or 'The Song of Dore Dore,' was created in 2005 as a short promotional film for the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan. Produced by Studio Ghibli, the piece serves as an example of the studio's commitment to creating exclusive, high-quality content specifically for visitors of their museum, rather than for wide theatrical release.
The animation was directed by Hayao Miyazaki, who sought to capture a whimsical, rhythmic sense of wonder reflective of the museum's atmosphere. The visual design utilizes Miyazaki's signature style, emphasizing fluid, expressive character movement and a gentle color palette that evokes a sense of nostalgia, which was well-received by museum attendees as an integral part of the immersive Ghibli experience.
