Dragon Ball Z: The World's Strongest

Released in March 1990 as the second feature film in the Dragon Ball Z franchise, The World's Strongest was produced by Toei Animation during the height of the series' initial television run. The film follows a classic cinematic structure for the franchise, introducing a singular, powerful antagonist—Dr. Willow—who seeks to transplant his brain into the body of the world's strongest martial artist, leading him to target Master Roshi and eventually Goku.

The production sought to capitalize on the rising popularity of the Z-era shift in Akira Toriyama's narrative, focusing on high-stakes martial arts choreography rather than the earlier adventure-centric tone. While the film was not penned by Toriyama himself, it was crafted to fit within the established aesthetic of the series, receiving praise for its fluid animation quality and creative character designs for the bio-warriors that accompany the primary antagonist.
