Where it came from
Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon was produced by Toei Animation and released in the summer of 1995 as the thirteenth feature film in the Dragon Ball Z series. It serves as a narrative conclusion to the Z film cycle, arriving toward the final stages of the original manga serialization. The story centers on the introduction of Tapion and the monster Hildegarn, blending high-stakes fantasy with the series' signature martial arts action.
The film was directed by Mitsuo Hashimoto, who was a veteran of the franchise's television and film production. The design work focused on atmospheric, darker visuals that departed from some of the earlier, more lighthearted entries in the film series. While it was released during a period of high fatigue for the Dragon Ball Z brand, the film has since gained a significant following for its emotional stakes and its unique character designs, often cited as one of the stronger entries in the series' cinematic history.
