Reiji Kirio was a corporate wage slave, who did nothing but work all day, every day. On a typical day of walking to work with a hollow look on his face, he suddenly found himself in the forest of another world. "Oh, this must be one of those isekai reincarnations people keep talking about." The two skills he has are "Appraise" and "Drug Discovery." Those don't sound too impressive... well, whatever. Except these turn out to be particularly overpowered skills! He's able to produce the healing medicines that were sorely lacking in the world, one after another, leading to an overnight fortune. No one will ever force him to work like a slave again! He decides to adopt a deliberately slow life, and opens a drug store. And so, a story about following the slow life philosophy while running a drugstore in another world begins.

Where it came from
Drug Store in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist originated as a light novel series written by Kennoji and illustrated by Matsuuni, serialized online before receiving a print release. The story belongs to the popular isekai subgenre, specifically focusing on the slice-of-life trend that emphasizes low-stakes, relaxing narratives over traditional quest-based fantasy tropes. The central premise revolves around Reiji Kirio, an overworked corporate salaryman who is transported to a fantasy world where he uses his newfound pharmaceutical skills to open a quiet drug store, catering to the needs of the local villagers.
The television anime adaptation, produced by studio EMT Squared and directed by Masafumi Sato, premiered in 2021. The production aimed to translate the series' lighthearted tone through a bright, clean aesthetic designed to evoke a sense of comfort and escapism. It was received as a gentle entry within the broader isekai landscape, catering to audiences who prefer domestic fantasy scenarios where the conflict is limited to the daily challenges of alchemy and communal life.
