In Ikebukuro, the lives of its citizens continue intertwining with each other as if their fates are predestined. Mikado Ryuugamine is now one step closer to his goal of living an exciting life, and in turn, delves deeper into the darker side of Ikebukuro. After gaining absolute control over a former rival, he uses his newfound power as he pleases, purging the Dollars from the inside to mold it into the ideal organization. This proves to be as challenging as it sounds as Mikado must now deal with unwanted outside interference, most notably a re-emerging and dearly missed friend. Meanwhile, Izaya Orihara still has some schemes up his sleeve, although a rival information exchange center has proven to be quite the hindrance, lurking within everyone’s favorite downtown district. Undoubtedly, sooner or later, chaos will strike again.

Where it came from
Durarara!! X2 The Second Arc serves as the middle installment of the X2 trilogy, which adapts the subsequent light novel volumes of Ryohgo Narita’s urban fantasy series. Following the conclusion of the first series, studio production transitioned from Brain's Base to studio Shuka, a company established by former staff members specifically to continue the project. This transition aimed to preserve the distinct artistic vision and fast-paced, multi-perspective narrative structure that defined the original anime’s cult status.
The series remains grounded in its signature portrayal of Ikebukuro, blending supernatural mystery with complex character dynamics. The design choices prioritize a vibrant, kinetic aesthetic that mirrors the chaotic energy of the source material. Upon its 2015 release, the series was received as a faithful continuation of the franchise, lauded by fans of the light novels for its commitment to the intricate storytelling style and the idiosyncratic voice of the original cast and crew.
