The intrigue goes international in The King of Eden, a feature-length conspiracy thriller that continues the action of Eden of the East. The deadly game that began in Japan now intensifies on the streets of New York City. The rules are the same: do whatever it takes to win. Die if you lose.
Takizawa prevented Japan's destruction - and then he vanished. Six months later, clues lead Saki to the Big Apple in search of her missing friend. Meanwhile, the remaining Selecao are plotting their final move. Some of them would prefer Takizawa dead and out of the way. Some might even be willing to help him achieve his goals. Unfortunately, some are prepared to destroy everything if it means claiming checkmate in Mr. Outside's puzzling game.

Where it came from
Eden of the East: The King of Eden was produced by Production I.G and released in 2009 as the first of two sequel films following the original 2009 television series. Directed and written by Kenji Kamiyama, the project sought to resolve the mystery of the Seleçao game and the protagonist Akira Takizawa’s identity. The narrative continues its exploration of contemporary Japanese socio-political anxieties, building upon the series' established aesthetic of sleek, modern mystery combined with social commentary.
The design of the film maintains the distinct visual language established by character designer Chica Umino, known for her expressive, soft character art that contrasts with the high-stakes, gadget-heavy thriller plot. The film was highly anticipated by fans of the series and received positive attention for its ambitious attempt to conclude a complex television narrative within a cinematic format. It serves as a definitive bridge between the show's initial mystery and the final resolutions provided in the subsequent film, The Paradise Lost.
