Now in possession of the Edens Zero, Shiki Granbell has gathered the Four Shining Stars. With the help of his new friends, Shiki will be able to breach Dragonfall—the border of the Sakura Cosmos swarming with mechanical dragons. Once that is achieved, he can continue his quest to find the goddess Mother.
Before the Edens Zero crew can advance their journey, they notice a mysterious warship following them. Upon learning that the ship—the Belial Gore—belongs to Drakken Joe, Shiki and his crew attempt to infiltrate it, intent on figuring out why the Dark Alchemist is after them. In the process, the Edens Zero is taken hostage by Drakken's subordinates.
Though they are in a tight situation, Shiki refuses to back down. Working together with his friends, Shiki will have to take down the Dark Alchemist if he hopes to make it out of the Belial Gore alive.

Where it came from
Edens Zero Season 2 was produced by J.C.Staff and released in 2023, serving as a direct continuation of the anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima's space fantasy manga. The transition to J.C.Staff from the first season's studio, J.C.Staff's predecessor J.C.Staff-adjacent entity, marked a shift in the production pipeline for the series, which explores the journey of Shiki Granbell and his companions across the Sakura Cosmos. The narrative builds upon Mashima's signature blend of high-adventure shonen tropes set against a futuristic, sci-fi backdrop.
The character designs and visual direction aim to replicate the energetic, sprawling aesthetic of the original manga, focusing on detailed space-faring environments and expressive action sequences. While the series received attention for its faithful adaptation of Mashima's sprawling world-building and character dynamics, the shift in animation production styles between seasons was a notable point of discussion among fans of the franchise, reflecting the industry's focus on maintaining momentum for long-running serialization.
