In this OVA, the story of Gau's history with his adopted sister and the secrets that make up the shadow skill unfold. The pair make their annual return to the gravesite of Gau's parents, where his growth and progress as a warrior can be exhibited for them. Gau has come along way in his training as a Sevalle under Elle's mentorship, but there are those who wish to find a way of eliminating them, just waiting for the right opportunity to mount a deadly attack. As the travellers make their journey, their family bonds and skill will be tested. Opponents are many, and battles are fierce, but Gau's training also entails taking on his sister in battle, and fully embracing the skills he must learn to defeat his ultimate opponent.

Where it came from
Shadow Skill, originally a manga series by Megumi Okada, was adapted into a two-part original video animation series in 1995. Produced by Zero G-Room and distributed in the West by Manga Entertainment, the project emerged during the mid-nineties boom of high-octane, action-oriented anime aimed at international audiences. The narrative centers on the martial arts fantasy world of Kuruda, following the journey of Gawl Van and his foster sister Elle Ragu, the latter of whom is known as the Shadow Skill holder.
The character design and animation style were crafted to emphasize kinetic combat and stylized grit, mirroring the aesthetic expectations for fantasy anime of the era. Upon its release, the OVA was received as a competent example of the sword-and-sorcery genre, celebrated for its fluid fight choreography and ambitious world-building. While it serves as a condensed introduction to Okada's larger, ongoing manga continuity, the 1995 series remains a nostalgic artifact of the decade's home video market.
