Where it came from
Enoshimans: Kurage no Soudan was released in 2019 as a short original net animation centered on the tourism and local culture of Enoshima, Japan. Commissioned by the Fujisawa City Tourism Association, the project was designed to promote the area’s coastal charm and unique maritime identity to a domestic audience through a lighthearted, narrative-driven medium.
The animation features a distinctive aesthetic that blends local geography with whimsical, fantasy-inspired character design. By focusing on the interplay between the mythical and the mundane, the creators sought to make the region feel more accessible and storied to younger demographics. It was received as a charming piece of regional marketing, noted for its effective use of animation to highlight the natural beauty of the Enoshima coastline.
