This is the masterpiece that introduced Kojo Morimoto to the rest of the world. EXTRA, the music clip from the pioneer of Japanese techno, Ken Ishii, was released in 1995. It skillfully represents the Koji Morimoto style of the Asian back alley world and received overwhelming praise both domestically and internationally. This triggered the beginning of a great boom for Japanimation. It received the award for “MTV Dance Video of the Year” in England.

Where it came from
EXTRA is a specialized photo book released by the Japanese talent agency Horipro, designed to showcase the professional range and personal aesthetic of their contracted talent. These publications serve as high-production-value visual portfolios, curated to bridge the gap between commercial advertising media and candid fan portraiture, reflecting the agency's long-standing influence in the Japanese entertainment industry.
The design and production of Horipro's EXTRA series typically emphasize clean, cinematic photography that aligns with contemporary Japanese aesthetic trends. By collaborating with established commercial photographers and creative directors, these books were crafted to elevate the public image of their subjects, providing a tactile, archival-quality memento that was well-received by fans looking for a more intimate and artistic perspective on popular media figures.
