Eyedrops

Eyedrops, released in 2016 by the artist Ona, emerged during a period of intense experimentation within the digital and underground electronic music scenes. The project reflects the era’s fascination with lo-fi aesthetics and the democratization of music production, where artists increasingly utilized minimalist, stream-of-consciousness compositions to explore intimate, often transient emotional states. As a standalone digital title, it functions as a snapshot of the artist's minimalist approach to sound design during this specific creative phase.

The design and conceptual framework of the piece prioritize atmosphere over traditional structure, a hallmark of Ona’s work in the mid-2010s. By stripping away complex production elements, the artist sought to evoke a sense of immediate, unadorned presence. Upon its release, the work was noted by small-scale music blogs and niche digital archives for its sparse, evocative quality, cementing its place as a representative entry in the burgeoning catalog of bedroom-produced, self-distributed digital art from that year.
