Where it came from
Released in 2024 to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the Eyeshield 21 manga, this promotional video serves as a celebratory return to the series created by Riichiro Inagaki and Yusuke Murata. Produced by Village Studio, the short film functions as an animated tribute to the American football-themed story that originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2002 to 2009. It was designed to rekindle fan nostalgia by showcasing high-quality, modern animation sequences that capture the intensity of the Deimon Devil Bats' gameplay.
The animation highlights the dynamic visual style that defined the manga, known for Murata's intricate character designs and explosive action panels. The production was received with significant enthusiasm by long-term fans who had campaigned for years for a revival of the series. By focusing on the core spirit of the original work while utilizing updated production techniques, the video successfully bridged the gap between the original early-2000s era of the franchise and contemporary anime standards.
