Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf

Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf was produced by NAS as a television special to promote the release of the Fatal Fury fighting game series, which had gained significant popularity in arcades. Airing in 1992, the animation served as a condensed origin story for the game's protagonists, Terry and Andy Bogard, focusing on their quest to avenge their father by defeating the crime lord Geese Howard in the fictional city of South Town.

The character designs were handled by Masami Obari, a renowned animator and director whose distinct, muscular aesthetic helped define the visual style of numerous fighting game adaptations during the early 1990s. The special was well-received by fans of the SNK franchise for successfully translating the game's high-stakes combat into a cinematic format, ultimately leading to the production of subsequent feature-length films based on the Fatal Fury property.
