In a Holy Grail War, Mages (Masters) and their Heroic Spirits (Servants) fight for the control of the Holy Grail—an omnipotent wish-granting device said to fulfill any desire. Years have passed since the end of the Fifth Holy Grail War in Japan. Now, signs portend the emergence of a new Holy Grail in the western American city of Snowfield. Sure enough, Masters and Servants begin to gather...
A missing Servant class...
Impossible Servant summonings...
A nation shrouded in secrecy...
And a city created as a battleground.
In the face of such irregularities, the Holy Grail War is twisted and driven into the depth of madness. Let the curtain rise on a masquerade of humans and heroes, made to dance upon the stage of a false Holy Grail. This is a Holy Grail War covered in lies.

Where it came from
Fate/strange Fake is an adaptation of the light novel series written by Ryohgo Narita, which originated as an April Fools' Day project in 2008 before expanding into a full-length literary work. The series serves as a spin-off to the broader Fate franchise, set in the fictional American city of Snowfield, where a distorted Grail War unfolds independently of the traditional conflicts depicted in other entries.
The 2026 television series adaptation, produced by Aniplex and animated by A-1 Pictures, was developed to capture the unique, sprawling narrative style characteristic of Narita’s writing. The production sought to maintain the visual fidelity established in the 2023 television special, focusing on high-octane action sequences and complex character interplay that define the 'Strange Fake' iteration of the Type-Moon universe.
