Fei Ren Zai 2

Fei Ren Zai, which translates to Non-Human, is a popular Chinese webcomic adapted into an animated series by Tencent Penguin Pictures. The second season continues the humorous narrative of Chinese mythological figures attempting to navigate the complexities of modern urban life in Beijing. This iteration builds upon the established world-building of the original webcomic, focusing on slice-of-life vignettes that reinterpret traditional folklore through a satirical, contemporary lens.

The character designs and visual aesthetic were developed to maintain the iconic, minimalist style of the original print source, prioritizing expressive, rounded character movements suitable for the ONA (original net animation) format. The series received significant acclaim for its ability to balance lighthearted comedy with clever cultural references to classic literature like the Classic of Mountains and Seas. It is widely regarded as a successful example of modern Chinese animation that bridges traditional mythology with youth-oriented entertainment.
