Drossel, an heiress from a long aristocratic line of the House of Flügel, resides in a castle called the Tower of Tempest. She lives there with her large robotic butler Gedächtnis, who has been serving the family for generations. He reveres Drossel’s late father and diligently serves as her caretaker. Drossel also cares for Gedächtnis with whom she has grown up. They pass the time with supposedly intellectually stimulating conversations, only to be interrupted by unexpected, wacky events at times.

Where it came from
Fireball premiered in 2008 as a pioneering experiment by Jinni's Animation Studio, marking one of the earliest instances of a television series produced entirely using 3D computer-generated imagery with a distinctive, high-speed aesthetic. The series was designed as a short-form comedy, drawing inspiration from slapstick traditions while utilizing the constraints of the medium to create a unique visual rhythm that set it apart from contemporary anime productions of the late 2000s.
The character designs and world-building were helmed by Hitoshi Fukuchi, who aimed to create an absurdist, highly stylized narrative centered on the interactions between a robot duchess and her servant. Upon its release, the series received critical attention for its innovative use of motion capture and its dry, witty dialogue, establishing a cult following that eventually led to several sequels and solidified the studio's reputation for technical experimentation.
