Where it came from
Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange is a 2023 anime series produced by studio Brain's Base, serving as a sequel to the original manga Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M by Masahito Soda. The series follows three young firefighters aiming to join the elite rescue unit known as Orange, updating the high-stakes themes of the original 1990s work for a modern audience while emphasizing the technical realities of fire rescue operations.
The production was directed by Masahiko Murata, who sought to balance character-driven drama with grounded portrayals of emergency response. By focusing on the training and psychological pressures faced by first responders, the series aims to honor the spirit of the manga while utilizing contemporary animation techniques to capture the intensity of fire-suppression scenes. It was received as a sincere exploration of heroism and professional duty within the modern Japanese fire service.
