First Kiss★Monogatari: Kiss kara Hajimaru Monogatari

First Kiss★Monogatari: Kiss kara Hajimaru Monogatari was released in 2000 as an original video animation produced by Studio Broccoli. The project originated from a multimedia initiative centered around the dating simulation genre, which was a dominant force in Japanese otaku culture at the turn of the millennium. The animation served to expand the brand presence of the franchise beyond the PC game market, aiming to capitalize on the popularity of visual novel adaptations that sought to bring interactive character designs to a linear storytelling format.

The production sought to emulate the aesthetic sensibilities common to late 1990s romance anime, focusing on character-driven narratives and soft, nostalgic visual cues intended to resonate with fans of the original game. By integrating Broccoli's distinctive approach to franchise management, the OVA was designed to bolster community engagement and maintain the visibility of its core cast. While it was received primarily as a niche promotional effort by the studio, it remains a documented example of the era's tendency to bridge gaming and animation through high-volume multimedia cross-promotion.
